Swachh Bharat Abhiyan is a cleanliness drive initiated in India in October 2014. It aims to promote hygiene, cleanliness, and health nationwide. The mission is currently in its second phase and aims to make clean, sanitary facilities available nationwide. Under this initiative, clean potable water is made available to hospitals, schools, and other public places. Also, through this mission, open defecation is being discouraged throughout all villages, towns and even slums in urban areas. India had the highest number in the world for open defecation. But this initiative tried to eliminate this practice by providing loans, subsidies and other help, to construct domestic, community-based, and public toilets in everywhere. Thus, fulfilling the aim of a clean, green, and healthy India.
